Jane Van Mater Sutphen died on 4 July 1833 at Springfield Twp, Hamilton Co, Ohio, at age 70 Jane died after eating a hearty dinner. She sat down in front of the fireplace and when about to take a pinch of snuff, exclaimed- "Oh, I feel so queer" and then died. She was buried at Lockland, Hamilton Co, Ohio.
